SmartKids integrates arts, sports, STEAM, culinary, and media into its diverse extracurricular activities for well-rounded student development.

At SmartKids International School, we provide a diverse range of extracurricular activities aimed at enriching our students’ learning experiences beyond the classroom. Our arts programs encourage creative expression through visual arts, dance, theatre, and music, while diverse sports options offer physical development and teamwork skills.

Students engage in exciting STEAM projects to spark creativity and scientific curiosity, while our culinary literacy program introduces them to nutrition and the joy of healthy cooking. Additionally, our innovative Television and Broadcasting course equips learners with foundational skills for the media industry.

SIS Extracurricular Visual Art

Visual Arts

Visual Arts assists learners to be creative​ by classifying and consuming principles and elements of art, acquiring methods, skills, abilities in producing art; communicative by developing ways to express themselves, tell stories, or share ideas; and appreciative​ by exploring and finding about the origin of art and explaining meanings frozen in specific artwork. PK-8 students are welcome to the weekend visual art classes, adapted from Morrison Academy curriculum.

SIS Extracurricular Dance

Dance

Western dance, brain dance, modern dance, tap dance and folk dance as well as Khmer traditional and folk dance are offered on the weekend for PK-8 students.

SIS Extracurricular Theater

Theater

Theater enables learners to improve self-confidence, imagination, collaboration, empathy and tolerance, communication skills, problem solving, fun, trust, memory, social awareness, and aesthetic appreciation. PK-8 students are welcome to the weekend dance classes, adapted from BUSD Arts for all curriculums.

Music

Music offers many benefits-patience, literacy and numeracy, goal driven, perseverance, enhanced Intelligence, and social capabilities. PK-5 students are welcome to the weekend musical classes, adapted from MusicFirst Elementary, a user-friendly kindergarten through 5th Grade curriculums.

Sports

SmartKids offers a diverse sports program, including football, basketball, swimming, biking, dances, yoga, and various martial arts.

At SmartKids, we believe in the power of sports in fostering teamwork, discipline, and resilience. We offer a diverse range of sports options, enabling students to find their passion and excel.

With classic team sports such as football and basketball, students learn the value of collaboration and strategic thinking.

Moreover, individual sports like swimming and biking build stamina, perseverance, and self-confidence.

Our culturally immersive activities like Khmer dance and Khmer martial arts promote understanding and appreciation of local traditions.

In addition, the Western dance, yoga, and Taekwondo classes help in refining agility, balance, and mental focus. No matter the choice, each student is encouraged to explore, learn and grow through their sports journey at SmartKids.

SmartKids Television (STV)

Introduction to TV Media equips G7-12 students with 21st-century skills through hands-on broadcasting experience.

G7-12 students, in the weekend classes, learn the 21st century needed skills with the content area ‘Television and Broadcasting’ under the course title ‘Introduction to TV Media’ which consists of the units – Introduction to Television and Media, Camera and Composition, Basic Video Editing, Storyboarding, Public Service Announcements, Chroma Keying, TV Production, and Commercials.

Culinary Literacy

In weekend classes, PK-8 students passionately delve into culinary literacy, learning to prepare healthy meals while understanding the science of balanced nutrition.

Nutrition education taught here focuses on the science of EATING WELL: NOT too many sugary foods; eat healthy snacks to have the energy to do well in school or sports; increase fiber in your diet to feel full and have a regular digestive system. PK-8 students, in the weekend classes, passionately learn how to cook healthy foods.

STEAM

PK-11 students engage in weekend STEAM activities, exploring projects and experiments across mathematics, science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.

PK-11 students, in the weekend classes, academically and joyfully take parts in mathematical projects- creating paper mathematical machines, projecting stock market; science experiments-DIY amplify a smartphone, DIY rainbow, racing a balloon-powered car; biology experiments – extracting DNA from a strawberry; chemistry experiments – measuring the calories in foods; physics experiments-removing the air in a DIY vacuum chamber; engineering experiments – launching a model rocket; and more.
