School Policy

SmartKids International School (SIS) seeks to provide positive development in a friendly and secure educational environment for students’ better knowledge, life skills, morality, self-confidence, fairness, and safety so that they become healthy, innovative, active, and qualified citizen. We are glad that you explore our school policy point by point.

1. ANTI-BULLYING

We reject all forms of bullying. No student, employee, parent, guardian, or community member should experience bullying within our educational environment. Bullying is defined as repeated incidents involving a stronger, or more powerful person or group on a smaller or weaker person. These might be Verbal: the person is embarrassingly nicknamed, put down, threatened; Physical: the person is hit, tripped, kicked or belongings are stolen or damaged; Social: the person is left out, ignored, or rumors are spread; Psychological: the person is stalked or given dirty looks.

Actions: Bullying behavior is managed through the school discipline code, and the development of appropriate interpersonal skills is trained twice per semester.

The responsibility of Staff Members is to act as role models of caring and tolerant behavior, listen to student reports of bullying, take steps to protect the victim from further harm, act to stop the behavior reoccurring, and document incidents of bullying and report it to school administrators.

The responsibility of students is to tell a teacher and give full details of the incident, and report incidents of bullying to a teacher, parent, responsible adult, or peer.

The responsibility of parents is to listen sympathetically to reported bullying, inform the school if bullying is suspected, and work with the school in seeking a solution.

2. SCHOOL UNIFORMS

Wearing School Uniforms will assist in developing students’ sense of belonging to the school community, promoting a sense of inclusiveness, non-discrimination, and equal opportunity, reinforcing the perception of the school as an ordered and safe environment, increasing the personal safety of students and staff by allowing easier recognition of visitors, and potential intruders in the school and promoting positive community perceptions of public education. All students agree to identify with SIS and wear the correct uniform as depicted below.

Everyday school uniforms:

Girls: Shirt, Skirt, Footwear, (Headwear- for Field trip or beyond school campus only)

Boys: Shirt, Pants, Footwear, (Headwear- for Field trip or beyond school campus only)

Students will be in Sport, Summer, or Winter School Uniforms upon occasion and season.

3. APPEARANCE

Girls: Tidy hair, hygienic nails and teeth, clean and neat uniforms, footwear, and headwear.

Boys: Appropriate hair, beard and mustache, hygienic nails and teeth, clean and neat uniforms, footwear, and headwear.

4. SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

SIS takes responsibility for promoting the regular attendance of students in partnership with parents.

Students are to attend school (85%+ of school day).

School staff are responsible for promoting regular attendance at school, maintaining an attendance register, following up student absences, and informing parents of attendance requirements and the consequences of unsatisfactory attendance.

Students are responsible for attending every school day and arriving on time and ready to learn.

Parents are responsible for ensuring students attend school each day, providing an explanation in the event of their child’s non-attendance, ensuring students arrive on time and ready to learn, and ensuring enrolment details are correct and up to date.

5. EXAMINATION

Students agree to attend exams on the exam date. Those who request to take a certain subject or all subjects exam before or after the exam date, agree with five percent (5%) of their certain subject score or all subject or total score be deducted.

For example, by certain subject:

A student took Math test before the exam date, earned a math score of 98.

The deducted score is equivalent to 98 * 5/100 =4.9

Therefore, his remaining score is equivalent to 98 – 4.9 = 93.1

For example, by all subjects:

A student took all subjects test after the exam date, earned all subjects or total score of 85.

The total deducted score is equivalent to 85 * 5/100 = 4.25

Therefore, his remaining total score is equivalent to 85 – 4.25 = 80.75
