Our international curriculum PK-12 is adapted from American Education Reaches Out (AERO) and the US Common Core State Standards (CCSS), issued by the United States Department of Education to ensure high education quality standards for students to become well equipped citizens.

Our local program PK-12 is fully accredited by MoEYS and we are committed to a curriculum framework of general and technical education to develop students qualified knowledge, skills and attitudes, from which they turn into full citizens.

The 29-year Education Practitioner, the Founder, and the Owner of SMARTKIDS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL (SIS)

Respect to parents, caregivers, and hello to dear students,

Let me start welcome message with infinitive gratefulness to my highly respectful parents; heartfelt love and veneration to elder brothers, sisters, and elder in-laws; countless love to younger sisters, younger in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and relatives; great reverence to colleagues, former and current teachers; unforgettable thanks to parents, caregivers of and students who built and support me and SmartKids’ family where we are now.

Of the main theme is a short story of SmartKids International School (SIS) and its current education performance.

SIS was in incubation for 12 months before opening, during which the period was spent for qualitative research. Apart from collecting primary data, we performed a critical literature review through serval business books, of which ‘1101 Businesses You Can Start from Home by DARYL ALLEN HALL, 1995’ was so helpful to kick start. You maybe amazed to learn that after two rounds of fennel analyses only three specific businesses were well matched with the founder’s key knowledge and skills – accommodation, travel agent and education service. Following the last analysis, education service was selected.

On the January 7, 2009, ‘SMARTKIDS’ which is the acronym of (Strategic, Measurable, Achievable, Reliable, Timing, Keen, Intellectual, Domain, Society) was technically founded, with only four classes, and only sixteen enrolments, at a reasonable start-up cost and reserve budget from the founder’s part and that from the other four key shareholders under a business type ‘Sole Proprietorship’ before it developed itself to be ‘SMARTKIDS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL-TRUSTEDU. CO., LTD.’ on September 05, 2019, and another company ‘SMARTKIDS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL-LC. CO., LTD.’ on September 19, 2022.

To this date, under professional teamwork, together with huge support from key shareholders, academic and non-academic staff as well as that from parents, students, and relevant stakeholders, SIS grew to six campuses; one in Phnom Penh, four in Siem Reap, and one in Kampong Thom, with over three thousand enrolments in the school year 2022-2023.

Since its birth, SIS runs K-12 in two main programs, Khmer General Education Program (K.GEP), and English General Education Program (E.GEP). However, from the school year 2023-2024, it offers two main curriculums at affordable tuition yet amazing quality-International (adapted from AERO, formerly known as E.GEP) and local (MoEYS, formerly known as K.GEP) curriculums together with four of the 21^st century demand-matched programs-ACIE (offering English as a Second Language, Chinese as a Second Language, Thai as a Second Language), EAP (offering entrepreneurship and IELTS for children age 11+), Extracurricular Programs (offering Arts, Sports, SmartKids Television, Culinary, STEAM) and Window of Opportunity (offering nonprofitable and profitable clubs).

If I may drop little advice, we believe ‘better education, best future; quality education composes with qualified knowledge, life skills, morality and self-confidence.’
